Ashleigh Murray portrays Josie McCoy in the CW's new teen drama Riverdale. Ashleigh was born in Kansas City, Missouri. In the 5th grade, she went to Oakland, California, to live with her aunt for 2 years, where Murray enjoyed studying piano, jazz and hip-hop. After graduating high school back in Kansas City, Missouri, she moved to New York city where she studied at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, graduating in 2009.
Previously, while studying at NYCDA, she starred in an off-Broadway production of "Child of the Movement," based on a true story, on that of Claudette Colvin, a 15-year-old girl from Montgomery, one who preceded Rosa Parks's involvement with the NAACP, was in a Coke commercial with Diggy Simmons which debuted during the 2013 BET Awards, as well as Lady Gaga's MTV VMA 2013 promo video. Murray worked on the WB's The Following, appeared in two episodes of TVLand's Younger and stars in a Netflix Original Movie "Deidra & Laney Rob a Train" (starring Rachel Crow, David Sullivan, Tim Blake Nelson, Danielle Nicolet, Sasheer Zamata and Arturo Castro).- Australian-born, of Scottish descent (dual AU/UK passport). Ashleigh boasts a natural warm relatable look. A versatile performer that has a face kissed by the sun with freckling and greenish hazel eyes, who simply sparkles on screen. With a background in dance and having previously starred in a Logie award-winning Television series, Ashleigh is a professional who has trained in prestigious institutions including NIDA, The McDonald College Of Performing Arts, Anthony Meindel's Workshop and Sydney Dance Company. Recent feature includes "The Lost Generation" a rendition of Hemingway's book "The Sun Also Rises". Two vertical film series on the streaming app Briz. Recent TVCs include Pet Circle, Clubs NSW, Mundicare and many more. Ashleigh is most known for her role of Alice in the ABC/BBC/CNBC Television series "Out There" (Won best Children's Series Logie) working alongside Australia's greats Tina Bursill, Genevieve Hegney, Dave Roberts and more.
